OUT OF THE ORDINARY. POLISH DESIGNER OF THE 20th CENTURY
includes articles about the work of 36 selected Polish designers, written by a team of over 20 specialists. Most were previously published in the pages of 2+3D quarterly magazine. Rounding off this selection of biographies are a handful of texts by David Crowley, describing the history and economic transformations in Poland in the past decades. They sketch a context vital for an understanding of the Polish history of design. The publication features over 350 photographs, the majority of which were taken specially for the purposes of this publication.
OUT OF THE ORDINARY is the first publication of its size devoted to Polish design. The authors’ intention was not to create a canon, but to present a portion of some extraordinary material that still awaits research and presentation to a wider public.
